Rocket Lab acquires Iridium in an $8 billion satellite communications deal

Rocket Lab has agreed to acquire satellite communications provider Iridium in a transaction valued at approximately $8 billion.

Once completed, the deal will bring together satellite manufacturing, launch capabilities, and the operation of one of the world's largest low-Earth orbit satellite networks within a single organization.

Iridium provides global connectivity services for aviation, maritime transportation, government agencies, industrial customers, and enterprise clients through its worldwide satellite constellation.

The acquisition reflects the ongoing consolidation of the satellite communications industry, where companies are increasingly integrating spacecraft production, launch services, and communication infrastructure to build end-to-end space connectivity businesses.
