Samruk-Kazyna Raises Stake in Kazakhtelecom to 91%

Kazakhstan’s sovereign wealth fund Samruk-Kazyna acquired an additional 10.43% of Kazakhtelecom’s common shares, increasing its total stake to 91.28%. The transaction was carried out on the KASE stock exchange and became one of the largest telecom asset movements in the country in 2026.

The fund stated that the decision was linked to the company’s investment attractiveness and updated development strategy. Kazakhtelecom is actively expanding its presence in data centers, AI infrastructure, cloud services, and digital platforms.

The consolidation is also viewed as a preparatory step toward a potential SPO planned before 2029. The government aims to strengthen the company’s market value ahead of a future public offering.

For the industry, the move highlights the growing infrastructure-oriented model of telecom operators, with increasing focus on cloud, data centers, and digital services.
