Kyrgyzstan paves the way for satellite internet launch

On April 15, 2026, in Washington, representatives of the Kyrgyz government officially announced the completion of the necessary approvals for the deployment of satellite internet. This step paves the way for operators to launch commercial pilots in hard-to-reach locations where building traditional fiber-optic infrastructure is economically unfeasible. Experts believe this decision is critical for the development of the national digital ecosystem. Satellite connectivity will provide stable network access for social facilities—schools and medical centers—which was previously impossible due to the rugged terrain. The initiative aligns fully with Digital CASA's goals to create regional digital connectivity. Now, the key issue will be selecting operator solutions that can provide optimal Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) for the end-user.
