Ucom runs Junior Academy to introduce school students to telecom cybersecurity and operations

Ucom organized a Junior Academy for graduates of a school cybersecurity course to show how these skills are applied in the telecom industry in practice. Over two weeks, the teenagers were immersed in the company’s professional environment, learned about internal workflows, and spoke directly with Ucom specialists.

The program introduced participants to the role of cybersecurity in a telecom operator’s infrastructure and day-to-day operations, while also highlighting the importance of coordinated teamwork, effective communication, and crisis-response skills. The academy was designed not only to transfer knowledge, but also to give students a first look at a real corporate environment and the expectations of the technology sector.

Ucom CEO Ralph Yirikian said that supporting young people in choosing a professional path contributes to the development of Armenia’s technological potential. Junior Academy continued a joint educational initiative by Ucom and the Microsoft Innovation Center.

The project illustrates how telecom companies can engage future talent early, building interest in infrastructure and cybersecurity disciplines that remain central to the industry.
