Russian telecom companies face prolonged DDoS attacks reaching up to 2.7 Tbps

Russian telecom companies are reporting a change in the nature of DDoS attacks, with campaigns becoming longer and more complex. While previously most attacks were limited to short-term attempts to overload services, cybersecurity specialists are now seeing prolonged attacks that can continue for weeks.

According to industry experts, the capacity of some attacks reaches 1.3–2.7 Tbps. Such volumes of malicious traffic create pressure not only on individual services but also on critical infrastructure elements, including communication channels, network equipment, and telecom platforms.

One of the key changes is the increased use of automated tools and distributed botnet networks, allowing attackers to scale traffic volumes and maintain continuous pressure on targeted systems.

As a result, telecom companies are strengthening their DDoS protection systems to handle continuous threat activity rather than only responding to short-term traffic spikes.
